PRCA to launch new professional association in Southeast Asia

The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has announced the launch of PRCA Southeast Asia.

PRCA Southeast Asia will be the new professional membership association representing PR and communications consultancies, in-house communications teams, and individuals throughout the region.

PRCA Southeast Asia will be chaired by Singapore-based industry leader Lee Nugent MPRCA, Regional Director APAC, Text 100; and run by Tara Munis, who is relocating permanently from London to Singapore. The new organisation will draw on the PRCA’s considerable resources, and 49 years of experience representing the industry.

Founding members include leading Southeast Asian consultancies Affluence PR, Blue Totem Communications, Golin, Grayling, H+K Strategies, LEWIS, MHP Communications, Omnicom PR Group, Rice Communications, Text 100, The Hoffman Agency Pacific Pte Ltd, and WE Worldwide.

The association will enable members to share best practice, engage in world class training, network with like-minded professionals, and help to raise standards in the industry. Working alongside ICCO (International Communications Consultancy Organisation), PRCA Southeast Asia will provide an international framework within which its members can develop global networks and links to the UK and to MENA.

Nugent said: “I’m honoured to represent the PRCA as its first Chairman for Southeast Asia. This is a high-growth region across many sectors, including PR and communications, and a terrifically exciting place to practise our craft. PRCA Southeast Asia will help PR and comms professionals to connect, share, learn and drive best practice as we grow the impact and effectiveness of what we do.”

Francis Ingham MPRCA, PRCA Director General & ICCO Chief Executive, said: “The PRCA has extended our offering to Southeast Asia in response to practitioners telling us that they want a professional body that covers the whole region, and offers international reach.

“Drawing on the PRCA UK’s 49 year history; our establishment of PRCA MENA in 2016; and our management of ICCO, we bring a truly global perspective, and an unparalleled knowledge of the issues and opportunities facing our industry. I am delighted that so many prestigious agencies are our founding members, and I look forward to our membership growing even larger. I also look forward to working closely with the national PR associations that exist across the region. Working together, we can help PR practitioners even more in their pursuit of PR excellence.”

The launch event will take place on 12th September in Singapore at the 1880 Members Club. Supported by YouGov, the event will feature a presentation of new research into the changing shape of buyer influence in Southeast Asia.
