Summary:

Crises play out today vastly different from ten, even five years ago. As our engagement with social and digital media accelerates, opportunities for even minor issues to escalate into a crisis intensify. Whilst the core principles of crisis management do not change with this, our reaction strategy certainly must.

Event Overview

This workshop will examine the various tools of social and digital media to connect effectively with stakeholders during a crisis, be they regulators, media, public, team members, shareholders, etc. We will discuss digital dynamics and how “news” goes viral, and look at how these facets interplay with traditional communication channels. From this, we develop realistic strategies to plan for a crisis scenario. Integration with offline approaches and how to use your crisis planning in limiting damage will also be investigated.

What Delegates Learn:

 How a social media murmur can evolve into a full-blown crisis, where and how a social media crisis may play out, and to what extend the brand can gain control of the scenario.
 Planning options for handling issues, emerging and actual crises.
 How to develop appropriate protocols and response patterns for implementation at various stages of an online crisis.
 The importance of maintaining strategic brand messaging in the curation and execution of crisis response.
 The importance of offline communication in an online crisis, as well as the interrelationships that are created and evolve from these.
