Aka Asia Appoints Julia Wei as Managing Partner

The future looks bright as the agency enters its 11th year with strengthened leadership

3 April 2020, Singapore – Independent communications agency, AKA Asia, has appointed Julia Wei to the newly created role of Managing Partner. The role will see her work closely with the management team to provide invaluable creative and strategic stretch, while
continuing to drive its culture of fearless creativity and fuel its integrated thinking across digital, social and traditional comms.

“Julia is a rare find. We’ve been searching for someone with her hybrid capabilities for some time and in the words of Rihanna, we found love in a hopeless place, what with the COVID-19 challenges of today. The creation of a new role during this period speaks volumes
about the long-term potential and opportunity we see in bringing Julia into our business,” said Amy Wright, Founding Partner of AKA Asia. “We also look forward to seeing what she’ll contribute to our annual charity bake-off later this year.”

Julia kicked off her communications career at Edelman. During her decade with the global PR agency, Julia rose up the ranks to the role of Head of Consumer – a practice she spearheaded in Singapore. She was then appointed General Manager of highly-regarded creative shop The Secret Little Agency (TSLA), where she helped expand its operations, contribute to strategic client counsel, and drive integration with earned capabilities. Following her time at TSLA she moved in-house, where she most recently took on a regional role with Lazada Group as VP, Integrated Communications.

“All roads have led me to AKA Asia – an independent, creative communications agency with a strong people-first culture. I’m excited to add a new dimension to this growing team and to be part of its future, albeit at home in athleisure wear for the first few weeks,” said Julia
Wei, Managing Partner of AKA Asia.

AKA Asia is a creatively charged integrated agency in Singapore with a team of over 40, and an impressive portfolio of clients spanning the likes of Jetstar Asia, WhatsApp, Nike and the Economic Development Board. It was named Asia Pacific Consumer Consultancy of the Year 2019 by The Holmes Report, and PRCA SEA Large PR Consultancy of the year, 2019.
